PASSIVE VOICE: ACTIVITY 2

In the following paragraph rewrite the paragraph, eliminating all passive constructions.

At noon last Tuesday on the corner of Ackerd and Commerce, a young girl was seen stepping off the curb onto the busy street. Screams were heard by the girl as she continued walking across the street. Horns were honked and screeching brakes could be heard as cars tried to avoid hitting the girl. A rag doll was carried by the girl who was preoccupied as she looked straight ahead. Suddenly, a man was seen running from a building toward the girl. His arms were raised as he shouted something. His voice was heard by the girl and she was brought out of her trance-like state. Turning her head, the man was seen and she was heard to shout, "Father". The girl was jerked up by her running father and was given a big hug. Tears filled their eyes as they embraced. All of this was seen by motorists and pedestrians who were shocked. After a few minutes, however, stalled motors were started and cars were driven past the reunited father and daughter as if nothing had happened.
