What
is Tech Prep?
Tech Prep is a sequence of courses that begins in high
school and continues in college. It was designed to provide technical
preparation in a career field, lead to an associate degree or a certificate
in a specific career field, and finally to high-skill, high-wage employment
or further education.
It is recommended that students complete a sequence of courses in one
career field, rather than several courses from non-related fields. Students
should complete the Recommended or Advanced Graduation Plan.
Students who complete Tech Prep courses are eligible for Distinguished
Achievement, as they are taking college-level courses for credit while
still in high school.
Students who complete a two-year sequence of Tech Prep courses and have
a 90 or above average for those courses are eligible for nomination for
the TASSEL award upon graduation.
