I believe that Phaedra at first was choosing not to tell Hippo of her love out of reason. It made good since not to tell because she had a good position in being the king's wife. She did not want to destroy this, but then she chose to tell him after she thought the king was dead, this was not a decision based on reason but on passion. She should have waited on confirmation of his death if she felt she had to tell. then in order to cover up for her blunder she again made a bad decision out of passion (anger of being turned down )by blaming Hippo. Many times in my own life I have had to make decisions on reason and not letting passion take over. I realize that when I let passion do the speaking for me I usually make a fool of myself and loose face. Or somebody gets terribly hurt. Sometimes to make a choice out of reason hurts.
