Members of each of four groups, selected alphabetically, will be responsible for discussing within their group one of four questions. Discussions can take the form of postings and replies. Simply put your Group number in the "Subject" line and your name in the "From" line. Groups should aim to complete discussions by April 7. Following is the membership of each group and its assigned question:
Group #1 (Jonathan Anderson, Philip Burroughs, Tiffany Corson, Helen Courrege, Natalie Jeffers, Jenni Luse) What does Emma seem to be looking for? Why does she have so much trouble finding it? To what degree can you relate to her search?
Group #2 (Kim Micak, Teresa Micak, Chris Moody, Susan Muthua, Julie Neis, Philip Pantleo) What pattern of behavior can you detect in Emma as she pursues her dream? How sympathetic are you with her behavior?
Group #3 (Justin Rosas, Evan Roy, Rachel Sanderlin, Amanda Sheehan, Miles Stoner) What kind of husband is Charles? In what ways is he at least somewhat responsible for the deterioration of their life together? How sympathetic are you to him and his situation?
Group #4 (Jeff Sullivan, Lori Wolfe, Stacy Yarbrough, York Yarbrough, Samira Zaman) What similaries and differences do you see among Emma's three lovers (Charles, Leon, Rodolphe)? Given her character, which one do you think most suits her and why?
