Emma seems to be looking for romance in her life like the stories she read in the convent. She is also looking for a way off the farm where she lives with her father. She wants to move into the city. When she met Charles she knew for sure that he would be her way out. She knows he is a doctor and has money to support her and her wants. The reason she has trouble finding what she wants is because she is never statisfied with anything. She always wants more or better then she already has. I think to a certain degree everyone is looking for something more or better then they already have. Whether it be with money, or a better job, or a healthy family. But Emma wanted her whole life to be something that is wasn't. She wanted to live in a fairy tale or a dream and never wake up. As for me I wouldn't want to change anything in my life. Emma is the total opposite.
