Upon growing up Emma was taught in the convent. Her perspective on love, romance, courtship and marriage were not very clear. The only examples of love that she had was the nuns, which was none, and from her parents. The reading that she did growing up was off the trashy romance novels whish mislead the young readers into believing that this is what love is supposed to be like. She had read about the big fancy societies and the lavish living and this is what she thought she would get by marrying Charles. What she did not realize was the way Charles was raised and the interperation that he had on love, marriage and romance. He came from a family that did not have the nicities that she wanted, the romance that she craved, the want to live in the high society. So it did not happen for her after she married Charles. Many times as humans we get these ideas in our minds that a certian thing should go a certain way, that this situation will be perfect and rosey, when many times it is conpletely different. We get dissapointed and will keep looking for the version that we want, when many times if we would just stop and look how good we really do have it......it is better afterall. If Emma had stopped and looked at Charles as a provider and a husdand and how much he was devoted to her she would have seen the romance she was looking for and the true love that she was searching for all her life.
