I think that Leon and Roldophe feel like Emma is a game or someone that they must consume in order to feel better about themselves. Charles, on the other hand, I think honestly loved Emma and I think she wasn't ready for something that close. In the long run, I fell that Charles was and always will be Emma's perfect match. He was the only one that showed real love towards her while the other two were seeing how far they could make her go with their "games".
