| Course: Police Response to Persons with Disabilities
(The law enforcement officer should have the knowledge on
how to recognize and deal with people with disabilities to better
handled situations. The main focus is the ability of the officer
to identify and accommodate. It is NOT considered rude or
offensive by the person with a disability to ask if they have a
disability or if they require any special accommodations. The
person requesting help would be grateful and not insulted. Some
officers are able to speak to people with disabilities. They have
received and are currently using good practices of sensitivity training
to better serve people with disabilities.) |
